The South Slavic language of Croatian (or hrvatski, pronounced [‘hrvʌtski] in Croatian) is most commonly spoken by Croats in Croatia as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Written Croatian documents can be traced back as far as the 9th century, mainly by looking at religious texts.
